At her offices in New York City and Englewood Cliffs, NJ, Dr. Lee helps patients get the smiles of their dreams with Lumineers (Veneers), instilling confidence in every patient.
Lumineers (Veneers) are thin layers of durable material laid on top of the tooth's surface to correct issues like cracks, chips, uneven or worn tooth edges, gaps between teeth and deep staining that doesn't respond to whitening. In many cases, they can be a good alternative to crowns for improving the appearance of your teeth. They can also be used to help small teeth appear larger, especially in a “gummy” smile. Porcelain veneers can be tinted to match the surrounding teeth, and they'll be custom-shaped for your mouth to ensure a natural, healthy appearance.
Veneers are applied in two visits. During the first visit, the tooth surface is prepared. A very small amount of tooth material is removed to ensure the surface of the veneer will be even with the surfaces of the neighboring teeth. An impression or mold of your teeth also will be made to aid in creating the veneer. You may have a temporary veneer applied at this time to protect the tooth until your permanent veneer is ready. At the second appointment, the veneer will be placed on top of the tooth and adhered with a special, strong bonding agent. Buffing and gentle shaping will ensure your veneer feels and looks great.
While dental veneers are not designed to last forever, with proper care, they can last for 10 years or more.
No, porcelain veneers are durable and designed to withstand the rigors of daily chewing and biting. You can care for them just as you care for your natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing and routine dental visits to ensure they're in good shape and properly adhered.
