Botox® relaxes the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles to form around the eyes and forehead. Juvederm® treatments are aimed at filling in wrinkles, lines and other imperfections that can make women and men look older than they feel.Dr. Lee is skilled in using these methods to help women and men in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, and throughout the New York City metro area look and feel younger, more alert and more refreshed.
Botox® is a neuromuscular agent that works by safely blocking nerve signals from the facial muscles to the brain. When you smile, frown or make other expressions, your brain tells certain muscles of your face to contract. Over time, all those contractions can cause lines and creases to form in the skin overlying those muscles. Botox® blocks those signals and prevents the brain from telling the muscles to contract so skin doesn't crease and wrinkle. It's used to treat crow's feet, forehead lines, and frown lines.
Botox® is injected into the muscle with a very fine needle. Only a very tiny amount is injected to produce effects. The needle is so fine and injections are so quick, very few people experience discomfort outside of very mild stinging as the material is injected. Once treatment is complete, there may be some very mild redness or swelling at the injection sites, but these effects quickly resolve. Be sure you don't rub the areas after treatment to prevent the material from dispersing outside the treatment area, which can make treatments less effective.
Yes, Botox® has been used in millions of applications for many years. Only a tiny amount is used, and it's administered only in the target tissues. In addition to facial applications, it's also used to help prevent excessive sweating, to treat muscle spasms and to provide relief for migraine sufferers.
Most people see results within a week or two as the skin begins to relax and smooth out. Full effects should be evident in about a month.
Botox® effects last about three to four months, but people who have multiple treatments often have results that last considerably longer as the lines and wrinkles become softer over time.
Juvederm® is a cosmetic filler used to fill in wrinkles and lines, to treat acne scars and to add volume to areas of the face that have begun to sag as a result of aging. It uses a patented formulation that includes hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that helps the skin retain moisture. Juvederm® works in two ways, by adding volume right away to provide immediate visible results and by helping skin continue to retain moisture so it looks firm and plump for months to come.
Juvederm® is used to treat many areas of the face, including the nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the mouth) and the marionette lines (from the mouth to the chin). It's an ideal adjunct to cosmetic dental treatments, helping the mouth area look firmer, smoother and more youthful. Juvederm® can also be used to plump up lips so the entire mouth looks rejuvenated.
Juvederm® is injected into the skin using a fine needle. Prior to injection, the skin over the treatment area may be numbed with a topical anesthetic. Treatments take just a few moments to perform, and there is no downtime. You may have some mild tenderness, redness or swelling at the injections sites that will resolve soon after treatment.
You'll be able to see immediate results as soon as any initial swelling resides. As hyaluronic acid binds with the moisture in your skin, you'll continue to see improvements developing.
Most treatments last for nine months to a year, and touch-up treatments can ensure your results last for a long time.
